Yes. Switch Customs can assemble a PC from an approved parts list, recommend a balanced parts list around a budget, assemble customer-supplied compatible components, or quote upgrades to an existing system. Custom PC assembly labor starts at $149.99, with parts, sourcing, shipping, and applicable tax quoted separately.
What are the ways to order?
You can buy or request a complete made-to-order keyboard, purchase an available refurbished or one-off keyboard, or submit a service order using a keyboard or compatible parts you already own. Every custom or service request is reviewed before work begins.
Do the service prices include parts and shipping?
No. The listed service prices are starting labor prices. Parts, replacement components, soldering, complex repair, inbound shipping, return shipping, and applicable tax are separate unless your written quote specifically includes them.
When do I pay?
Submitting the request is free. After you approve the exact written quote, payment is completed through a private Stripe invoice or secure Stripe checkout. Customer-specific sourced parts are not ordered until the required payment is received. The quote states any remaining balance and when it is due.
Can I send a keyboard or parts I already own?
Yes. Visit Keyboard Services for assembly, tuning, programming, or diagnostics using hardware you already own. Do not ship anything until Switch Customs confirms compatibility and sends packing and mailing instructions.
Do you sell complete keyboards?
Yes. Finished ready-to-ship keyboards, made-to-order complete builds, and occasional refurbished or individually numbered one-off boards are separate from labor-only service orders.
What does “refurbished” mean at Switch Customs?
A refurbished listing is a previously used, returned, incomplete, or non-working third-party keyboard that Switch Customs inspected, cleaned, repaired where needed, and function-tested before resale. The product listing identifies known repairs, replaced parts, modifications, and cosmetic condition. Refurbished does not mean factory-new.
What is an SC One-Off?
An SC One-Off is a specific refurbished or reworked keyboard that has been customized into a unique configuration. The actual unit is photographed and its exact parts and modifications are documented. When sold as individually numbered, that exact configuration is not recreated as the same numbered unit.
Can I choose the sound and feel?
Yes. Customers can request a deeper, quieter, clackier, smoother, heavier, or lighter typing experience.
Does RGB Studio directly control my keyboard?
No. RGB Studio is a visual planning tool that attaches your preferred layout, colors, brightness, and effect to a build request. Actual RGB capabilities depend on the selected keyboard and its manufacturer software, so Switch Customs confirms compatibility before quoting the build.
What is the tape mod, and how many layers do you use?
A tape mod uses painter’s tape on the back of a compatible keyboard PCB to change its sound. There is no automatic layer count: Switch Customs tests the stock board first and uses tape only when it is safe, useful, and approved. Tape is never placed over batteries, heat-producing parts, connectors, test points, or screw holes, and wireless boards may not be eligible. You can always request no tape. Removal can leave residue or require cleanup depending on age, heat, and condition.
Can you guarantee an exact “thocky” or “creamy” sound?
No exact sound can be guaranteed. The final result depends on the case, plate, mounting style, switches, keycaps, desk surface, microphone, and room. We use your request as a target, compare appropriate tuning options, and document the final materials and mods.
How are customer reviews handled?
Review submissions are checked before publication. When possible, the order email is matched privately to an order before a verified-purchase label is added. The email is never displayed publicly. Genuine positive or negative feedback may be published, while spam, private information, abusive material, and unrelated content may be rejected.
Are the complete-build budget ranges final prices?
No. Custom keyboard planning ranges are Starter $125–$175, Custom $175–$250, Premium $250–$375, and Signature $375+. They are planning targets for a complete made-to-order keyboard, not guaranteed totals. For budgets below $125, browse ready-to-ship builds instead. Every request receives an itemized quote before payment.
How does AI Help use my information?
Messages entered into AI Help are sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Switch Customs has disabled model-training data sharing, and each request is sent with response storage turned off. OpenAI may still retain prompts and responses for up to 30 days in abuse-monitoring logs. Switch Customs does not sell chatbot information. Do not enter passwords, payment-card information, or other sensitive personal information.
Is supporting Switch Customs a charitable donation?
No. Switch Customs is a for-profit sole proprietorship, not a nonprofit or charity. Any support payment is an optional tip for the free build content and is not tax-deductible. It does not place an order or include a product. All support is reserved for and reinvested into Switch Customs business expenses rather than personal spending.
Where do you ship, and what does shipping cost?
Switch Customs currently ships within the United States. Standard ready-to-ship merchandise shipping is $11.99. Complete custom keyboards include free standard shipping within the contiguous U.S. Alaska, Hawaii, territories and military delivery require a separate quote. Do you offer returns?
Ready-to-ship keyboards may be returned within 14 days of delivery if they are in the same condition received and include all accessories and packaging. Customer-choice returns have customer-paid return shipping and nonrefundable original shipping. Damage, defects, incorrect items, and custom orders have separate rules.
